Certified Acupuncturist on Staff
Our certified Acupuncturist performs acupuncture therapy in our Bergen County office. Acupuncture can be effective in treating illnesses, injuries, chronic pain, addictions and more. It is also helpful in treating anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, abdominal, menstrual cramps, weight control, infertility and much, much more.
The proof of Acupuncture’s effectiveness is in its longevity. The earliest written record of acupuncture dates back to 200 BCE. At our Bergen County spine and rehabilitation center, we often use acupuncture as an adjunct therapy to our comprehensive menu of chiropractic services.
Michelina Kraus holds a Masters Degree in Acupuncture from the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine. She joined the practice in 2016 and believes in providing not only symptom-specific treatments but also educating patients on the importance of whole well-being. Michelina focuses heavily on positive mental and nutritional health, while providing a uniquely beneficial experience for patients.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture uses small, hair-thin needles that are inserted into specific points in the body, where they are gently stimulated to trigger the body’s natural healing response. Acupuncture is effective for controlling pain and can regulate the body’s physiological functions to treat various internal dysfunction and disorders.
Studies have shown that acupuncture influences both the central and peripheral nervous systems. Additional evidence indicates that acupuncture stimulates the release of brain chemicals such as endorphins, which function to relieve pain. Research also suggests that acupuncture increases immune system functioning, improves the circulatory system, decreases muscle tightness, and increases joint flexibility.
